THE EVENT: SVBC WEEK
SVBC week allows the gathering of music lovers, particularly that of choral music including professionals, singers and audiences around the globe to come together in the spirit of promoting singing, friendship, cultural exchanges and collaborations. It provides the opportunity for the appreciation of choral music on different levels and aims to raise the standards of choral music education in Singapore.
Singapore is a singing nation. Our Sing Singapore campaign has been going on since the 1980s, with the government commissioning a song for National Day over the years. Almost every single government school has a choir and every year the ministry has been very supportive of education in choral music.
As a nation, we love to sing and SVBC is meant to bring Singaporeans from all walks of life together through its various activities. From programmes for the young, to networking events for the business community, it is our wish that SVBC does what choral music has done for its advocates for centuries: Bring people together in song.
Dates: January 11-15th January 2018
Come January 2018, audiences can expect gala concerts, performances, master classes for choirs, workshops for conductors, after rehearsal and concerts get-togethers around Singapore. We have invited the President and Artistic Director of VBC, Professor Gerald Wirth to share his expertise in choral music with the conductors and music leaders in Singapore. He will be conducting master classes and choral workshops. There are opportunities for ourour local audiences to see the Vienna Boys Choir in the 2 concerts and 1 mini charity concert that we have lined up. Last, but not least, local choirs will have the golden opportunity to sing and perform with the Vienna Boys Choir.
To summarise, the key activities for the week will be centred on these few main themes: See, Sing, Study and Socialise.
We look forward to an exciting and eventful SVBC with each and everyone of you. Click here for the tickets.
